HPR-Tuning

HPR-Tuning parts for ZF 8HP and DCT conversions, listed for Australian builders. A conversion is a matched system, not a pile of brackets: adapter plates, bellhousings, flexplates, mounts, crossmembers, hard parts, cooling and control electronics have to work together for one engine in one chassis.

So work engine and chassis first, part number second. Find the listing that names your combination, read exactly what it includes, then build the rest of the conversion around it.

Start with the engine and chassis, not the part

Two builds that both run a ZF 8HP can need completely different bellhousings, starter positions, flexplates and mount positions. Pin these four things down before you open a listing:

  • Engine code, not just the family. RB25 and RB26, 1JZ and 2JZ, M50 and M54 and B58 are not interchangeable in kit terms.
  • Chassis and year range, because mount and crossmember positions change inside a single model run.
  • Gearbox code, and whether you are fitting 8HP or DCT, since the kit families are listed separately.
  • Controller, because the harness and shifter inputs come from that decision.

HPR vehicle kits by platform

These are the platforms the range currently lists vehicle kits and engine adapters for. Each link opens the listing, which states what is included.

Building it end to end? The HPR 8HP kits and bellhousings guide breaks down what each HPR product family does, the Ford Barra to ZF 8HP swap guide covers gearbox, adapter, controller, wiring, driveline and cooling together, and the N54 and M50/M52/M54 flexplate guide handles the starter and flexplate detail.

Bellhousings and adapter plates

If you are not buying a complete vehicle kit, the bellhousing or adapter plate is the part that decides whether the gearbox physically belongs behind your engine. HPR lists these separately so you can build around a gearbox you already have. Check whether the flexplate, bolt kit and starter provision you need are in the box before ordering them again.

Hard parts and clutch kits when power climbs

Stock 8HP internals have a limit. The hard-part range is listed against the rating each part is sold at, so confirm the figure on the listing you are buying rather than assuming a kit suits your build.

Wider clutch and internal options across the store: 8HP internals and Dodson parts.

Cooling, mounting and driveline

Heat and mounting are what quietly ruin an otherwise good swap. The range covers both:

Plan cooling properly rather than buying the smallest part that fits: the 8HP cooling guide covers pans, cooler adapters and heat control, and the cooling and filtration collection lists what is available.

Controllers and harnesses

An 8HP needs something to command it. The control decision drives the harness, the shifter inputs and how the transmission talks to your ECU, so make it before you buy wiring.

Compare them in TCU controllers and harnesses, or work through Emtron, CanTCU and TurboLamik compared first.

Complete packages

Would rather buy the package than assemble it? HPR lists complete build packages and prepped-transmission combinations alongside the individual parts, including the complete 8HP conversion parts kit with transmission, controller, wiring and accessories and the GTR adapter plate chassis kit with prepped transmission from HPR. Compare them against the 8HP transmission range so the gearbox under the kit is the right one.

Before you order

  • The listing names your engine code and chassis year range.
  • You know what is included, and what you still need to source.
  • The flexplate, starter provision and bolt kit suit your engine.
  • The controller, harness, cooling and driveline plan are decided, not deferred.

Not sure which listing covers your build? Send the engine code, chassis and year, gearbox code, controller, power target and a photo of the engine-to-gearbox area through the contact page before you order.

HPR-Tuning FAQ

What is included in an HPR 8HP conversion kit?

Each listing defines its own contents. An HPR vehicle kit is a matched set built for a specific engine and chassis, and the product page states which parts are included. Read the individual listing rather than assuming two kits contain the same parts.

Will an HPR kit fit my engine and chassis?

Only if a listing covers that exact combination. Kits are named by engine and chassis because bellhousing pattern, starter position and mount location change between them. If nothing in the range names your combination, ask before ordering.

Do I need a controller as well as the kit?

Yes. A conversion kit joins the gearbox to the car. A TCU or controller and harness command the shifts, so the control decision is part of the build, not an accessory. The 8HP swap buyer checklist sets out the full conversion path.
