Important: 8HP.Shop supplies specialist ZF 8HP transmissions, transmission build services, conversion components, controllers, driveline parts and related motorsport/performance components. These products may be used in factory vehicles, modified vehicles, high-load applications, conversions and motorsport environments. This policy explains how returns and warranty claims are assessed while preserving any non-excludable rights that may apply under Australian Consumer Law.

Australian Consumer Law and non-excludable rights

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation. Where a non-excludable guarantee applies, 8HP.Shop will comply with its legal obligations. Where the law permits, our liability is limited to repair, replacement or resupply of goods or services, or the cost of having the goods or services repaired, replaced or resupplied.

This policy does not create any warranty beyond the warranty expressly provided by 8HP.Shop in writing, the applicable manufacturer or distributor warranty, and any rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Manufacturer terms apply to third-party products

Parts manufactured or supplied by third parties are covered only by the relevant manufacturer’s or distributor’s written warranty terms, conditions, exclusions, installation requirements, service requirements and claim procedures. Those terms may differ between brands, product types and intended uses.

Manufacturer warranty coverage may require the product to be installed by a qualified technician, used only within the manufacturer’s published limits, operated with approved fluids and supporting parts, serviced at specified intervals, and returned for assessment in the condition required by the manufacturer or distributor.

8HP.Shop does not extend, vary or guarantee manufacturer warranty coverage beyond the written manufacturer or distributor terms unless 8HP.Shop has expressly agreed to do so in writing before purchase or use.

8HP.Shop workmanship on transmission assembly

Where 8HP.Shop or an authorised provider performs transmission assembly work, workmanship is assessed according to the work actually performed, the agreed scope, applicable Australian consumer guidelines and any non-excludable consumer guarantees.

Workmanship coverage does not automatically cover unrelated vehicle systems, customer-supplied parts, second-hand donor parts, incorrect installation, incorrect converter spacing, driveline misalignment, cooling system issues, wiring/control faults, coding/adaptation faults, tune/calibration faults, over-torque events, overheating, oil starvation, contamination, incorrect fluid, misuse, abuse or use outside the agreed scope.

Any claim relating to workmanship must still go through the inspection and findings process below before any warranty outcome is accepted, denied or approved.

Factory-fitted ZF vehicles

For a ZF 8HP transmission or related component fitted to a vehicle that was originally engineered and delivered by the manufacturer with that ZF transmission family and configuration, claims are assessed case by case against the product supplied, the installation evidence, the vehicle condition, manufacturer requirements, service evidence and the facts of the failure.

Normal road-going use in a factory-fitted ZF vehicle is treated differently from motorsport, competition, race, drift, drag, burnout, roll-racing, circuit, off-road racing, dyno abuse, launch-control abuse, excessive torque use, non-standard calibration, non-standard control strategy or other high-performance use. High-performance use is not covered under standard warranty unless 8HP.Shop has expressly agreed to that coverage in writing before use.

Conversions, swaps, modified vehicles and motorsport use

Transmissions and components fitted to conversion vehicles, engine-swapped vehicles, gearbox-swapped vehicles, motorsport vehicles or heavily modified vehicles are supplied for custom conversion, development, off-road, motorsport and performance use. These applications involve non-factory installation variables including mounts, wiring, cooling, driveline geometry, controllers, CAN integration, converter/flexplate spacing, calibration, torque management and operating conditions.

Because those variables are outside 8HP.Shop’s control, there is no standard warranty from the time of use on transmissions or components fitted to conversion, swapped, motorsport or heavily modified vehicles, except for any non-excludable rights that may apply under Australian law or any written warranty expressly agreed by 8HP.Shop before use.

Conversion or motorsport use includes, without limitation, standalone TCU operation, custom bellhousing or adapter plate installation, custom mounts, altered cooling systems, altered torque converter or flexplate arrangements, modified transfer case or driveline arrangements, non-OEM calibration, engine swaps, gearbox swaps, vehicles not originally delivered with that exact transmission configuration, and use above the manufacturer’s intended torque/load/heat limits.

Warranty claim evidence required

All warranty claims must be submitted in writing before any remedy is considered. The customer must provide enough evidence for assessment, which may include the original order number, invoice, installer details, vehicle details, VIN where applicable, odometer, photos/videos, fault codes, diagnostic logs, controller configuration, tune/calibration details, fluid type and quantity, cooler setup, service records, installation invoice, usage history and a clear description of the issue and operating conditions when the issue occurred.

Failure to provide requested evidence may delay or prevent assessment of the claim.

Tear-down, inspection and findings report

No warranty outcome is accepted, approved or admitted until the product or transmission has been inspected. All warranty claims are evaluated only after tear-down where required, component inspection and a written findings report by 8HP.Shop or an authorised dealer, technician, manufacturer, distributor or provider nominated or accepted by 8HP.Shop.

The findings report may consider assembly condition, wear patterns, heat damage, fluid condition, contamination, broken hard parts, calibration/control evidence, installation quality, cooling performance, torque/load exposure and whether the failure is consistent with a covered defect, workmanship issue, external cause or excluded use.

The customer may be responsible for removal, freight, diagnostic, inspection, tear-down, reassembly and reinstall costs unless 8HP.Shop determines, or applicable law requires, that those costs should be covered as part of an accepted warranty claim.

Case-by-case review

Every warranty claim is reviewed case by case. A claim, inspection, repair attempt, parts supply or customer support discussion does not mean liability has been accepted. 8HP.Shop may approve, reject or partially approve a claim based on the evidence, the inspection findings, manufacturer or distributor direction, the product’s intended use and applicable law.

If a claim is accepted, the remedy will be determined by 8HP.Shop in accordance with the applicable warranty terms and any non-excludable legal obligations. Remedies may include repair, replacement, resupply, store credit, refund or another remedy required by law.

Returns and change-of-mind requests

Returns for change of mind, incorrect ordering, no-longer-required parts or compatibility errors are not automatic. Any return must be requested in writing and approved by 8HP.Shop before the item is sent back.

Approved returns must be unused, uninstalled, complete, undamaged, in original packaging where applicable and returned within the timeframe and method approved by 8HP.Shop. Special-order parts, custom-built transmissions, assembled packages, electrical components, controllers, opened fluids, used parts, clearance items and items installed or attempted to be installed may not be returnable unless required by law.

Freight, payment fees, inspection fees, restocking fees and other reasonable costs may be deducted from any approved return where permitted by law.

How to start a warranty or returns request

Email the 8HP.Shop team with your order number, product details, vehicle details, photos/videos and a clear description of the issue before removing, disassembling, modifying or returning any product. Do not send parts back until 8HP.Shop confirms the next step in writing.
